Short Biography
Janitz Enparantza Alustiza is a young Basque musician, txistu player, composer, and student of choir and orchestra conducting. He was born in 2006 and has been immersed in the world of music since he was a child. He started playing the txistu at the age of 3 and began his studies at the conservatory at the age of 8. He completed his intermediate and professional studies at the Francisco Escudero Conservatory in San Sebastián, graduating with honors. In addition to the txistu, he has shown a great interest in composition, piano, music theory, and other subjects such as analysis or history. After rigorous training, he was selected to study choir and orchestra conducting at the Superior School of Music of Catalonia (ESMUC) with maestros Salvador Brotons and Johan Duijck. In 2018, he won first prize in the young txistularis competition of Euskal Herria and again in 2022. In addition, in 2023 he won first prize in the composition category in the young musicians competition of Euskadi and the honorary prize in the woodwind category. In 2022, he performed a concert at the Quincena Musical festival in San Sebastián in Oñati. Since childhood, he has also had a passion for choral singing, participating in the school choir, training in the Orfeón Donostiarra, and currently singing in the Easo choir. In the future, he will seek to find his place in the world of conducting, learning from great musicians and maestros, and promoting his own projects while continuing to perform concerts and recordings with the txistu.
